Our Story

The original, iconic, Community Hall, was conceived and created by the residents of Eureka, Montana, to meet their social needs and reflect their cultural values. Starting in January 1935, a group of residents began to raise money for the development of a unique two-story structure-- boasting a finely detailed, impressive example of rustic-log construction. The Great Depression hampered fundraising efforts, yet after four years, the visionary group was able to secure half of the needed funds through donations and labor. Construction was finally made possible with the involvement of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and was completed in 1943; serving the community for a few generations before becoming a retail space.

When a serendipitous opportunity opened up for our family to purchase the building, in 2021, we made a commitment to revive its purpose as a welcoming place to gather. As locals, who value history, tradition and hospitality, we funded the year-long restoration of the aging infrastructure and maintained its structural integrity while improving its rustic-elegance.

The Timbers, positioned on a hilltop with a view of Old Town, hosts 'The Timbers Event Center', a venue host to weddings and special events and 'The Gathering Place Coffee shop'---the only sit-down coffee shop in Eureka.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as 'Eureka Community Hall' and has been described as,
“The most substantial and well-crafted building in Eureka."

We look forward to meeting you here where lasting memories are created!
